Hey guys! Rachel checking in to give you a few extra thoughts on this one.
Woof guys. This was a THICC book. With two Cs. There was a lot going on and not nearly enough time to go in to it all. So if you’re interested in the Robin Hood characters, pleasure dirigibles, mid-revolution birth, and werewolf scientists that we had to brush over, go ahead and pick this one up. But if you don’t want to fight your way through the bourgeois, I feel like we did a pretty good job of summarizing the major plot points.
I will say, I did appreciate that Mina is at least a mildly strong female character. She doesn’t sit around waiting for Leo to fix thing/save her. That said, there’s still a lot of “she’s a strong independent woman and thus is an ice queen who’s heart of ice can only be melted by a man”. I’m really torn up about this one guys. Let me know what you guys think!
I’d also like to just have a brief moment of silence for our beloved phantom. I feel as though he’s been grossly misrepresented on the cover of this book. Do you ever have a really vivid image in your head of what a character looks like? Well I can till you THIS is not how I imagined Leo. AT. ALL.
